NFL: A Bad WinnerI have to admit I was extremely impressed with the San Diego Chargers victory over the Indianapolis Colts this past Sunday.
I, along with a million other people could not
foresee this happening in a home playoff game as Peyton Manning is usually very efficient in games of this magnitude.
However, the Chargers were very deserving of victory as they beat up the defending champs literally en route to a 28-24 victory and did so in impressive fashion.
There was one little performance by the
San Diego Chargers
quarterback Philip Rivers towards the end of the 3rd quarter that was not impressive in the slightest.
As
Rivers
was leaving the game to head to the locker room with an injury, he began chatting it up with the fans in a ridiculous rant that seemed completely classless and childish yelling something to the effect of “Don’t worry, I’ll be back, I appreciate the applause.”
Rivers
, feeling he was being taunted, felt the need to taunt back.
To do something like that is not in a pro NFL quarterback’s repertoire.
When I unleashed my predictions for the divisional playoffs earlier this week I mentioned that I thought Philip Rivers was not quite ready for big time football.
His immaturity proved exactly what I was preaching Sunday.
Though the Chargers came out with a win,
Philip Rivers
looked even more ridiculous and juvenile than he has in past interviews and post game press conferences.
He again repeated his tirade against the fans as the final seconds ticked away in the 4th quarter.
What the young 26-year-old QB needs to understand is there is no need to taunt the fans with words when you can let your game speak for itself on the field.
Rivers had a magnificent game.
He literally picked apart the Colts pass rush.
Conversely, his actions off the field made him look like more of a loser than the Colts.
Rivers, though very talented may not be considered an elite quarterback for a long time to come because of his inability to let go of his massive ego.
