Something SpecialThe N.Y Giants 23-20 win in overtime in perhaps the toughest, coldest and loudest place to play (Lambau Field) was nothing short of astonishing.
Eli Manning
put on the biggest show of his four-year career just when his critics thought he couldt possibly top the win over Dallas.
He topped it in a big, big way and so did the rest of the Giants. Big play after big play was the staple in the Giants offensive and defensive teams and none bigger than the interception by Corey Webster in OT when it looked like after winning the toss, Green Bay would take it from there.
The pick later led to a game winning 47 yard field goal to win the game for the
New York Giants
.
The Giants have had a tough season but have played unbelievably well in the playoffs while undoubtedly having the toughest road to the Superbowl beating three NFC powerhouse teams on the road.
Eli Mannings
instant maturity has had a lot to do with their success.
Though inconsistencies have plagued him throughout the season, Manning is used to playing with his back against the wall which is what he has had to do the past three games.
Setbacks only seem to make this kid better and he is one cool customer under pressure. The greatness of a quarterback is measured by how well he responds to adversity and Manning seems to be mastering this skill right in front of our eyes.
With the Giants win over the Packers, this now sets up a rematch of Week 17 between the Giants and the Patriots.
Eli Manning
poses an interesting threat to the Patriots because his style is very similar to
Tom Brady's
. He is a grind it out type of quarterback who occasionally goes to the difficult to cover deep route to Plaxico Burress like Brady does to Moss.
It will be interesting to see which quarterback will set the tone for the game first.
As for Eli Manning, consider his Superbowl already won. Merely going to the big game is an accomplishment no one could have fathomed for the Giants quarterback in his 4th season.
However, do not look past this very dangerous team. The point spread may be large, but judging from the Week 17 contest and the way the
New York Giants
have been hanging on to win games on the road through much adversity, we may have ourselves an exceptionally memorable Superbowl XLII.
