Cannabis Club - further defined.
by: Jp

After reading the last comment on this topic it seems to me that the writer did not iunderstand waht a cannabis club is -

Many of us do not as we are not located in California where the Cannabis Club is legal by state law.

Here is what a Cannabis Club is as I understand it -
California has legalized the use of Medical Marijuana by prescription and the prescribed users are allowed to grow marijuana for medical use (and I believe that there aqre approved growers) to provide the medical marijuana.

This medical marijuana is sold through the cannabis club (not a pharmacy) as Federal Law still has marijuana as an illegeal substance.

What I believe the original author was referencing - was that his desire is to be the proprietor of such a club (my understanding is that there are thousands of these in California - Legal by State Law already) and instead of charging the prices that are currently being charged that he would charge less - opting to provide the same service and medicinal marijuana for less than those already in business.

On this topic there are and have been decades literature and information on the positive effects and unique properties of marijuana, the econimic impact etc.

Weather pro-legalization or against it is truly a fascinating topic and the history, uses of hemp and it's viability as a super plant is really fascinating.

I can say that I live in Indiana and DO NOT use marijuana in any form. I do see the benefits to farmers, and the economy in the growing of hemp for it's industrial and commercial uses.

Northern Indiana is actually very well known for it's hemp production in the early to mid 1900's.

The topic at hand though is 'cannabis clubs'...
without arguing the wisdom of legalization or the politics of the issue here is a straight look at the business perspective (as I see it)-

The original author's concept is actually one that is in the forefront of this years election - affordable health care.

Take out marijuana and replace that with Aspirin and obviously people would go to where the price was the least for the same product.

As it stands right now, however, aspirin is legal nationwide and marijuana is illegal on a federal level.

The question was why not? - The answer is that at any given point in time while the marijuana is illegal your very existence as an ongoing business is at the discretion of the Federal Law Enforcement Body.

As a business principle - it is not one that makes a lot of sense.

I say that knowing full well that there are thousands of people running these businesses and making great money doing so - but they also know that at any given point in time their business could disappear as well as Criminal charges be pressed.

I am not arguing either way for legality or illegality or passing judgment just stating the facts and my perception on Cannabis Clubs as a business concern.

Be well,

Jp

Cannabis Club??
by: Anonymous

Get real!! A club for people that are suppossed to be ill to sit around and smoke dope together? It sounds more like an excuse to legalize partying and smoking pot in a "club". A "cannabis club" certainly does not sound like a medical treatment facility for sick people. This is really about legalizing marijuana under the guise of "medical treatment".
