I can totally relate to the article submitted on Priorities.

I too, find myself trying to commit to my one year Bible at the beginning of every year.

In fact, my priorities have been pretty off track for about a year and a half.

In September '06 I decided to re-enter the workforce after being a stay-at-home mom for several years.

We decided it would be best for me to stay at home with our daughter since we didn't know anyone.

This was definitely the right choice for us.

She was diagnosed at 18 months as having mild Autism.

So, the next several years were spent seeing doctors and driving to St. Louis for therapy.

During this time, she was also involved in Early Childhood Special Education inclusive programs.

This was a class at our local elementary school that included typically developing children with non-typically developing children.

This was an excellent program and with its help and a lot of prayer, I am happy to report that her Autism is "almost" undetectable.

She still has certain things that trigger symptoms, but for the most part she is doing well.

She is in a regular classroom at a private Christian school and loves it.

So, with all of that said it brings me to the point of my story.

Although these were the hardest years thus far of our marriage and life together, these were also the years that I have been closest to God.

During this time, we were regularly attending church and Sunday school.

She was learning so much about the Bible and God, as was I.

Even though I have been in and sadly out of church my whole life, it was during this time that I found the most personal growth.

I think my heart was so open and wanting answers so bad about why certain things were happening in our life, that God was showing me all kinds of things about Himself that I never knew!

So here is my challenge.

I challenge everyone to go to your local Walmart and buy a one year Bible.

This is an exciting book about the history of the world and mankind.

This is where you will find all the answers to your problems.

People struggled with the same issues during this time as we do today...money, family, God, love; even adultery, murder and deception.

I have gotten as far as April during my one year reading, but this year I am recommitting myself to God and my family.

I am going to get through the entire Bible and your going to help me.

Let's meet back here every Sunday and let each other how we are doing and what exciting new things we've learned about our Creator!
