Hummus- Recipe




Hummus is a delicious and healthy Middle Eastern spread that can be served with pita bread, crackers, or fresh vegetables. After purchasing various kinds from the grocery store, I decided to come up with my own version.

1 can of chickpeas(garbanzo beans)

2 tbsp tahini(ground sesame seed paste, found in the ethnic section)

2 tbsp lemon juice

3 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp chopped onion

1 tsp minced garlic

1 1/4 tsp garam masala

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 chopped fresh cilantro leaves

Place all ingredients, except cilantro, in food processor. Process until smooth. Stir in cilantro.
