DEEP SEA FISHING- PANAMA CITY BEACH, FLORIDA

by Chris Bledsoe
(Missouri)

My Fishing Buddy

My Fishing Buddy

We spent our summer vacation in Panama City Beach.

My wife, daughter, and I along with the in-laws

had a great time hanging out on the beach and at

the pool. But I could not help thinking about

going Deep Sea Fishing

I have always wanted to do this and figured it

would be the perfect time. I began calling some

local charter boats to see if I could join a group

that needed an extra person. I did not have my

fishing gear now, so we needed a place with the

right tackle.

With it being the off season, I had trouble

finding anyone that was going out. A man

recommended that I try a party boat. This was not

something I wanted to do but checked into anyway.

After my wife tired of hearing me whine and pout,

she talked me into trying it. So bright and very

early the morning I headed down to the dock to get

my number where I would stand at the rail on the

boat. All I could picture was standing elbow to

elbow trying my best not to hook anyone or get

hooked myself. Much to my surprise there were not

many people on our cruise. We set out to sea and

it was an enjoyable ride to our destination about

10 miles off shore. The deck hands got our bait

ready which consisted of calamari and cut Fish

As we waited for the captain to blow the horn to

signal that it was time to drop line, we would

bait our hooks with the slimy fish food. The horn

sounds and it’s a mad rush to get your line down

to the bottom of ocean. The anticipation is enough

to drive you crazy. PECK-PECK-JERK-MISS-REBAIT.

This seemed to be a common pattern for a while.

Finally I caught my first fish, a Blue runner. I

could not wait to get my Fishing Line

back in the water

and catch another one. My second fish was a White

Snapper. During my 5 hour cruise I caught 7 Fish

total but had a great time. This is a fantastic

way to get started if you have never been before.

Along with catching fish I met some really nice

people. I took my fish to the dock and had them

cleaned while I waited for $5.00 fee. Well worth

the money. My wife also took some fishing clips so

we could always remeber this fun family trip. For

$55.00 I had an adventure that brings great

memories that will last a life time.
