This is a piece of mackerel nigiri. This is my least favorite of the nigiri rolls that I have tasted. The mackerel has a very strong fishy taste even when fresh. Notice in the picture that this fish has some green garnishing on it. Some people love the strong taste others think it is a bit overwhelming. I am an avid sushi eater and even I must admit that the mackerel is a bit intense. I would not recommend this to the sushi newbie. If you have tried the California roll, the tuna, salmon and are looking for a taste of something new you may want to consider trying the Mackerel.
