Breaking Down the McDonalds Menu, the Penny Pinchers Guide to Ordering:

Rule number one: if the McDonalds you are at does not have a dollar menu do not order. You will often find these McDonalds off major high ways, at rest stops, and in downtown citities. The dollar menu is the cheapest and best bang for your buck.

Rule number two: you can get a double cheeseburger for one cent more than a single cheeseburger. Thats right, for one penny more you can get an entire all beefy patty and cheese.

Rule number three: if you want to order McNuggets order them from the dollar menu! It is more expensive to order a ten piece nugget than it is to order three four pieces from the dollar menu.

Rule number four: stay away from ordering kids meals and happy meals. Although it may make the kids happy, that little toy they throw in the cleverly shaped box... YOU are paying for it.

Rule number five: don't buy fountain drinks from McDonalds. McDonalds makes a higher percentage of profit on the fast food "accessories." (the fountain drinks, the frys, the happy meal toys) If you are going to drink a soda or fruit drink you are better buying it from the grocery store.

Rule number six: if you order any type of sauce for your nuggets or fry's make sure it is in the bag before you leave the drive thru! Call me picky but theres nothing worse than getting home only to find no McDonlads BBQ sauce and you are stuck using old ketchup from the refrigerator.

These are a few tips and observations I learned from my time at UMASS Amherst. $80,000 invested in my college education and I leave with a PHD on the McDonalds menu.
