Gutter guards- Protecting your house from water damage.
Gutter guards are a great way to protect your
house and save you a lot of future work and money.
Leaves left in your gutters can cause an array of
problems including roof damage, water damage in
the attic, and possible dry wall damage to your
ceilings.
Water takes the easiest path, and if your gutters
are full, it will back up and run under the shingles while ruining the fascia board that the gutter is attached to and possibly create rot in the sub structure.
Gutter guards protect the gutters from becoming clogged with debris allowing water to flow freely down drain pipes and away from your house.
Although they can be purchased locally, the best prices are typically found on line.
If you are handy they are reasonably easy to install and takes very little time, however, if they are not installed correctly they can do more harm than good.
We absolutely recommend getting a professional installer to install these.
National Contractors.com
is a great place to find a reputable contractor for your project.
While they are there they will also be able to point out any additional problems, adjust the fall on your gutters and the installation will be backed by a warranty.
If you are going to do it yourself here be sure you have the right tools.
If you need to get tools the best prices that we have found from a reputable company for this project or any other are at Tool King.
Here is the basic How To Install Gutter Guards.
Carefully slide the guard under the shingles and
above the aluminum drip edge. Now slide forward to
the front lip of the gutter.
The guard has a channel on the front edge that will slide around the lip of the gutter and lock in place.
This is a very cheap and easy way to insure
your home against water damage from backed up
gutters.
