How much money is 1 Billion dollars really? Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg turned down a $1,000,000,000 ($1 billion dollar) in cash from yahoo a mere 3 years after he founded it, myspace sold (as a steal?) for $580,000,000 ($580 million dollars) and Google reportedly paid $1,600,000,000 ($1.6 billion) when they bought youtube less than 2 years after they founded it!
Looking at all those zeros and just hearing the numbers really got me thinking about How much money a billion dollars REALLY is...
Let's put that into perspective:
$1,000,000,000.00 in cash!
If you spent $1,364 a day - EVERY day from the day Christ died (2008 years) until today you still would not have spent $1 billion dollars!
Breaking the down further that is $56.83 every hour of every day for 2008 years or 94 cents every minute of every day for 2008 years.
Monthly that breaks down to $41,488.33 month - EVERY month for 24,096 months.
Annually that means that you could spend $497,860 a year for 2008 years and still have money left over!
This also holds true in reverse to make $1,000,000,000.00!!! That is with your money earning ZERO PERCENT INTEREST!
Now let's assume an interest return of 8% on that kind of money you would be making $80,000,000.
That bears repeating -
That’s 80 million dollars a year in interest! That means that you would have to spend $219,178 a day just to spend the interest you made every year!
Further that breaks down to $9,132.42 hour or $152.20 minute or $2.53 a second.
Let me tell you that
NOBODY is
only earning 8% return on a billion dollars!
