Safe Internet Environment

We all know the internet can be a great way to broadcast news media, serve as a means of social networking, and be a great source of entertainment. Educating your kids on how to safely search the internet is something that all parents should talk to their children about. Your children will most likely use the internet for school projects, chatting with friends, and in many other ways throughout their lives. It is the obligation of the parents and school teachers to educate children on how to have fun searching the internet in a safe and controlled manner.

Your kids should never give out their personal information or mailing address without parental consent. Parents should have access to their child’s e-mail account. Unwanted adult related spam is a harsh reality of today’s internet. Get your children in the habit of NEVER opening an e-mail from unknown sources! Keep the internet as a friendly and educational as possible.

Google has the answer to EVERYTHING! Avoiding the AOL chat rooms won’t hurt either. As a parent you should always set your child up with their own xp account so it can be monitored. Check the internet search history once a month. Make sure that the internet is a tool for gathering knowledge. There is parent friendly software that makes monitoring your teens surfing activity from spyware and other various computer viruses that remain prevalent.

Always run an anti-virus check frequently. Watch the surfing history, run a credible anti virus program, and talking to your kids is the best way to maintain a user friendly and safe internet surfing experience.
