Is Your Iguana's Health Questionable?Green iguanas require alot of care in captivity. If you want your pet to thrive you need to provide heat, proper diet, roomy housing, calcium supplements and lots of water.
I've had people bring iguanas to me that were lethargic, thin, and in poor health in general. And, the problem was almost always a matter of warmth. iguanas require a constant temperature of 80-100%.
They also need humidity along with their heat this can be provided by misting your pet at least once a day with a spray bottle full of tepid water, and by leaving a large water bowl in the iguana's habitat.
If an iguana's body temperature is too low their body cannot metabolize their food. A cold iguana (even if it eats) will eventually starve to death because their body isn't processing nutrition.
If you have an iguana thats looking a bit ill the first thing to do is make sure he/she is warm to the touch.
Iguanas are such beautiful creatures and can be rewarding pets if they're given the proper care and attention.
