Letting the Birthday Boy/Girl help with making their special Cake
when the candles are being blown out
Letting the Birthday Boy/Girl help with making their special CakeMy Nephew's 3rd birthday was this past January. My sister D,and I decided that we would let O help decorate his birthday cake. He loved being apart of making his cake look pretty.
He ended up eating a lot of the frosting more than putting it on the cake. We gave him a few options on what he wanted to put on his birthday cake: blue frosting, chocolate sprinkles, and milk and white chocolate sauce, and finally candy pieces.
He started with the frosting and didn't like how long it was taking so he decided to move on to the candy pieces and soon got borde of that too. Then he picked up the sprinkles and LOVED putting that on the cake because the sprinkles wouldn't just go on one specific spot when he shook the bottle he realized that the sprinkles would go in many different directions. So after the cake decorating experience we put the cake away until the party.
When it was time for the cake, we brought out the cake and everyone thought that it was a very unique idea letting the child make his own cake from start to finish. When it came down to eating the cake it made the cake taste that much better because there was so much love put into making and decorating the cake as a family.
so teaching children time and patients is a major factor in making a birthday cake, but children will want to wait for this activity because it is something that is directly for them. It's also a great way to start teaching your children safety in the kitchen. Also school things as well, like math, vocabulary, and science.
