How to Quit Smoking Cigarettes by InAllHonestyLearning how to quit smoking cigarettes can be a life changing experience.
Nicotine the addictive drug in cigarettes is among the most addictive substances in the world.
We all know the ramifications of smoking and the link to lung cancer and other health complications.
I had a very good buddy who used to smoke a pack a day and managed to quit using a few simple lifestyle changes.
There is no miracle cure here, it is a matter of self control and self discipline.
The first thing you should do if you are trying to quit smoking is to exercise.
In particular, cardio vascular workouts will release endorphins and reduce the temptation to smoke.
Another advantage to cardiovascular workouts is it will help repair and strengthen the lungs. Our lungs are the source of our breathing.
Maintaining clean and health lungs free from the toxins in cigarettes will add years to your life.
Another trick is to chew sunflower seeds or suck on a piece of hard candy.
Keeping your mouth busy will help direct your attention away from smoking and be an alternative means to satisfying your oral fixation and is a great
home remedy.
Sunflower seeds (in the shell) work particularly well as they require some chewing and mouth work to crack the shells.
Sunflower seeds in the shell can be messy as you need to spit the excess shell into a cup. If you are at work and can not chew sunflower seeds try regular gum or hand candy.
Gum will work nearly as well as sunflower seeds.
Self hypnosis tapes are also available. My buddy had never tried one of these, but there is a licensed hypnotist in my family and she swears by it.
Pick up a few self hypnosis tapes and give them a try, you don’t have much to lose except for a cigarette addiction.
Finally, you should quit smoking because it is expensive.
I am not sure of the exact cost but lets say for this example a pack of cigarettes cost $5. That means you are spending around $ 35 a week, $140 a month, $1680 a year on something that will kill you.
Take the $1680 you would spend on cigarettes and take a vacation!
Good luck, and never give up!
