Slim Stanley

I don't recall when I first heard of Slim Stanley exactly. I do know that my son was still small(he's 22 now) and a teacher in California suggested Slim Stanley for a class project. It was a fun idea that I remembered about a week ago.

Let me explain a bit. Slim Stanley is a paper doll. You can create a Slim Stanley using any design, color, or material. You can make a Slim Stanley boy or girl, any size or shape or even create an animal of your choice. You can give your Slim Stanley a different name.

The idea is to send him(or her) to a relative or friend in another area. That person takes him on a pre-determined time-frame of adventures, which are documented by photos, notes, keepsakes, or videos and sends him back to the creator with these interesting little tidbits. The creator then provides a show and tell for friends and relatives of Slim Stanley's adventures.

My son sent his Slim Stanley from our residence in California to an aunt who was living in Louisiana at the time. He was very anxious for his paper doll to return so he could see the outcome of Slim Stanley's adventures. It was fun for him, his aunt, and me. Then we took Slim Stanley to school and shared his adventures and collection of photos and notes, etc., with the other students in class.
