FeedTheVillage.com - Tips and Advice: My Bella contest winner!
Stephenie Meyer for Teens! My teenage daughter introduced me to a wonderful author named Stephenie Meyer. I decided to try the book "Twilight" because my daughter simply couldn't stop talking about it.
I admit to having reservations because it was a book about vampires interacting with humans. However, I had no reason to worry. It's the same old good versus evil storyline wrapped up in a romantic thriller.
I couldn't stop at the first book. She had me hooked. I've now finished my first three books and await my turn to read the latest new release, "Breaking Dawn". We waited at the book store for two hours for this book to be released. There was a book release party. My daughter even won the contest for best Bella costume.
We didn't even know there would be a contest before we went. We just knew that the kids were allowed to dress like they would go to a prom. So, she got two of her friends to join her and they dressed up fancy. My daughter wanted to dress how she thought Bella dressed for her own prom in the book.
So, it was an interesting night for us. Our first book release party was a thrill. The girls had a blast. I just thought it was interesting to see all the people and stay in the shadows, so to speak to watch the interaction and fun. The costumes were creative. The atmosphere was alive. The book was received with loud cheers.
The girls couldn't even wait for us to get home to begin reading. They had book lights and lights from cell phones to get a head start.
Stephenie Meyer is definitely a fan of our home school and has even got my daughter interested in reading a classic called, "Wuthering Heights" because it was said throughout the story that it was Bella's favorite book. Way to go, Stephenie!
The best characters, in my humble opinion, are Edward, Bella, Jacob, Carlisle, and Alice. But you can choose for yourself if you're interested in vampire/human and good versus evil type thriller/romance novels. Boy, that's a mouthful!
