Sports - Hockey: First Outdoor Hockey Game by Brurev644
Everyone grew up playing hockey outside on ponds, lakes, and man-made rinks.
Throughout the history of the game, it gradually turned into a indoor sports game.
On the first day of 2008 the National Hockey League hosted the first outdoor hockey game in the United States.
The game took place where the Buffalo Bills play football, in Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo, NY.
I believe this is the most important day for
professional hockey
Ever since the NHL lockout a few years ago, ratings have declined and NHL stadiums are empty.
The atmosphere in Buffalo for the first outdoor NHL game in the United States couldn't have been more remarkable.
The weather was just a degree above freezing and
the snow was falling making it truly feel like a winter classic for a crowd of 73,000 people.
The ending couldn't have been scripted any better, as the next NHL phenom Sindey Crosby ended the game with a shootout goal in blizzard like conditions.
