Superbowl XLII

Superbowl XLII PredictionsI know you all have been waiting for it so here is, my carefully researched and thought out prediction for Superbowl XLII. Now, you all probably have your own predictions and think yours makes the most sense so instead of writing out a boring article that ya’ll will probably skim, I am going to list ten reasons why I think the New England Patriots will come away with their fourth Superbowl in seven years. The reasons are in ascending order (the same format as David Letterman’s Top 10.) At the end of the article you will get a score as I have provided for previous articles.
10. The New England Patriots have perhaps one of the greatest offensive line’s in the history of the NFL. The amount of time Tom Brady is given to throw seems like an eternity. The OL is 50% of why Brady is almost always accurate and always timely throwing the football. As good as the Giants defensive line is, the OL of the Patriots will simply wear them out in the end.
9. The dynamic duo of running backs Kevin Faulk and Laurence Maroney are big, strong and know how to wear a defense down. Strahan and company may pose a threat to the running game, but expect quality gains from these two throughout the game.
8. The defensive line of the Patriots lives for games like this and Tedy Bruschi anchors a relentlessly hungry bunch. Brandon Jacobs is solid, but he has not played in a game of this magnitude and therefore his inexperience will hurt him in this game.
7. The Pats are making their fourth Superbowl appearance in seven years and the Giants are making their second appearance in eight years. Most notably, only Michael Strahan and Amani Toomer still remain on the Giants team that lost to the Ravens in Superbowl XXXV. Patriot’s players have immensely more Superbowl experience.
6. The receiving core of Stallworth, Welker, Gaffney and Moss (will mention him later) for the Patriots is phenomenal; a huge reason why the Pats have been successful all season.
5. The Patriots have seen much tougher teams in past Superbowls.
4. Though the Giants are on a tear, a big question will be if they are mentally tough enough to play 60 minutes of football which they have not been able to do in a lot of games this season. Do not forget the Pats have been doing that for the past 18 games.
3. The Patriots are in pursuit of the best record in NFL history. All eleven guys whether on defense or offense are fully aware that a loss will not only damper the entire season, but put the franchise in a position that would almost be worse than going 0-16. They lose this one and all credibility will be lost.
