The Private Shop/Mobile Mechanic

The private guy.. well I like him.

The first thing you have going for you with the private shops/mechanics is these guys want you back. They are not the dealer who will sell another car and trade you out, nor are they the franchise who will just scoop up the next guy off the highway. They are pretty straight forward about standard pricing, and keeping to it.

For the most part, they are more likely to work with you, explain things to you, and even directly show you whats going on. And, these guys will admit fault, and will do their best to work it out with you.

Private guys rely on you passing your good word to grow their business. Basically, you can give the new guy a shot, but an established private mechanic has a vast array of knowledge and the tools to back it up.

There are scam artist everywhere, and these guys are no exception (so don't let your guard down). The odds of such, are minimal with these guys. They usually will have the experience to know exactly what will get you going again, as well as know where problems may be during the process.

Listen to them, get a second opinion, but I will stick with the fact that, outside of warranty claims, this is the best route to go.
