A Glimpse of Heaven

You probably have an idea formed of what heaven will be like.
Some people think that, in heaven, we'll sit on clouds and eat chocolates all day. We'll have no jobs. God will hand us everything we want.
Last night, in my dreams, I visited heaven. Here is what I saw.

My beloved "Gram" was waiting for me with open arms at the gate. I was elated to see her. I knew she would be there. She embraced me. I embraced her. She led me through the gate.
Heaven was not filled with wispy clouds and flying angels. It looked much like our present earth. There was land. There was sky. There were houses.

My grandmother led me to her house.
"I have missed you," she said.
I didn't ask her how I had died. It didn't seem to matter.
Roses the size of softballs bloomed on a tree outside Gram's house.
"This is your home, too," she said. "I've prepared your room."
Gram put on a pot of tea and pulled cookies out of the oven.
We sat down and Gram fed me information about my new home.
I had made it to heaven! Gram had prayed that I would.

Gram's cookies tasted heavenly-just like they had on earth!
"Where's Grandpa," I asked.
Gram looked at me sadly.
"He didn't make it," she said.
"Is he in..." I asked.
"Yes, he is," Gram said.
The doorbell rang.
"Oh, goodie!" Gram said. "The girls are here to work."
Gram opened the door and invited six ladies inside.
Gram led us down a hallway and into her sewing room. A purple quilt was stretched out in a wooden frame.

"We're going to finish this quilt today for Margie down the street. I can't wait to see the look on her face. Tomorrow is her deathday," said Gram.
The ladies giggles and got to work. Gram handed me a needle.
This was heaven-where beauty flourished, where loved ones lived and where work was satisfying.
I woke up, regrettably, and realized and I'd been dreaming.

It is Sunday morning. I haven't been to church in a couple of years. I am thinking of Grandpa, who always had "better things to do".
As soon as I finish typing this vision, I'm getting ready for church.
