University- UMASS Amherst College Review: Academics

Clearly, this is the most important area for a student to consider when applying for a school.

Naturally, you want to choose a school that will best help you "open the door" to your future.

It may be difficult for you at first to decide what you would like to do with your life but major selection in this school is very crucial.

UMASS has one of the top business management schools in the country in the Isenberg School of Management.

Admission to this school is very difficult and if you are fortunate enough to be accepted, hard work and dedication are essential in surviving the difficult program.

However, choosing the right major along with commitment to it will ultimately open the door to a vast amount of career opportunities after graduation.

In regards to other majors, most require far less rigorous prerequisites to gain admission to but are valuable in their own way.

When choosing a major, having at least a rough idea of what you want to do will propel you to more opportunities after you graduate.

Me personally, having no idea what I wanted to do when I first got into college chose Legal Studies and Psychology as majors that were interesting to me.

However, I was presented with limited options upon graduation because outside of going to law school or going to graduate school for psychology, there really are not many great opportunities to sell yourself.

Choosing a good major means more opportunities for valuable internships and co-ops which ultimately lead to a more rewarding career.

The University of Massachusetts Amherst does not have a law school but there an abundance of graduate school programs particularly in the business and management department which are among the best in the nation.
