University- UMASS Amherst College Review: Introduction
University- UMASS Amherst College Review: Introduction If you are considering applying to or will soon be attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst, this will give you a first hand perspective on what to expect. As a recent graduate in 2006 I can tell you that your experience at UMASS is entirely what you make of it. However, the location in which the school is located coupled with the lack of activities outside of the campus makes it a place conducive to distractions. By location, I mean that Amherst, Massachusetts though a nice little town is a relatively rural area with not much to do making it very difficult to do anything but stay within the campus. There were numerous occasions where I needed to come back home to Boston (a polar opposite of Amherst) to return to the city life that I had been accustomed. UMass does however have its positives and I will dive into those as I talk about the different components of the school.
