Weight Training For : Muscle Mass, Tone or Muscle Endurance

Weight training can be used to achieve several different goals there are three main ones: To gain muscle mass, To gain muscle tone, To gain Muscle endurance.

To achieve each goal listed you need to train in slightly different ways.

To find out how you need to train you need to know what you want to achieve.

For example if you want to increase your brute force, you will train for muscle mass; to look better you will probably train for muscle tone and to run a marathon you would obviously train for muscle endurance.

To increase muscle mass the theory is that you lift heavier weights, do lower reps but have longer rests in between sets.

To gain mass I would advise lifting a heavy for 3 sets of 4 reps with a 1 minute rest between sets after which you should have achieved muscle fatigue.

To increase tone you should lift a moderate weight for a moderate number or reps with a moderate rest in between sets.

I would recommend doing 3 sets of 8 reps with a 30 second break between sets using a weight that makes your muscles fatigue after that.

To increase endurance you should lift a light weight, but do more reps with short rests in between sets. I find that doing 3 sets of 15-20 reps with a 10-15 second breaks between sets with a light weight.

Thanks for reading I hope I have helped you understand weight training slightly better.
