Of course your child might fall in that middle ground with the rest of the world, and is a student who makes A's, B's and C's and on occasion they've seen a D? Well, don't let that be a showstopper! He/she may not get into Harvard, but they probably don't want to go there anyway. Please don't be discouraged. So even if your child doesn't graduate in the top quarter of their class. They can sill get into college, lots of colleges. Not only can they get in, they can also be successful and do well. A simple truth is this: If you have a C average you can graduate from high school and the same applies for college. And believe me there are a lot of people who have had to C their way out of college. (Even at Harvard, and they are full of valedictorians). The point that I want to make here is that there is so much focus placed on the straight A student until some of those students who do not fall into that category tend to be forgotten about and given bad direction.

I don't believe there is a typical profile for a college student. If you need a clearer picture as to what a college student looks like I would like for you to do two things. The first is, help your child decide that they are going to go to college. Secondly, have them to look in the mirror and smile. Because that person standing in front of them is the ideal profile!
