Wordplay Against Freedom

There are many places in this country that a person can go today and see or hear subtle, or sometimes not too subtle, hinting of a general discontent of the People towards their current Governing body. Not just the current administration, as so many in our media love to blame for all the ills of man, but in the complete structure and workings that make up The Government. During a recent discussion, a very intelligent friend of mine told me that the fact people refer to the Government as a separate entity from the People is a sign of just how far we’ve fallen from our intended path. This is true down to a deeper level than many today would be capable of understanding. “We the People, in order to form a more perfect Union…”, “A Government of the People, by the People and for the People” – these are lines that every American has heard and probably assumes they believe – how many Understand them though? How many people see that what has taken place over the last century has been a systematic and controlled coup that leaves enough of the simple pleasures in life to allow most of the People to hold the illusion they are free?
Throughout history, people have had different things required of their time. One of those that have been the all consuming desire for many was freedom – to have a Government that was built upon limitations; A Government that guaranteed basic inalienable rights that COULD NOT be taken away or even so much as abridged. Once a person is free to no longer worry about the acquisition of those rights then he is free to wholly invest himself in other pursuits – building a business or perhaps a family. These rights were eloquently enumerated in the first 10 Amendments to our Constitution; these guarantee that every man (yes, the word man can and will be used collectively to include women) may be secure in his liberty without worry. This is not the case today.
Certain things in history have been used as baselines to determine a society’s progress. Things such as Leisure Time or Disposable Income are used to show how efficiently the needs of people are met and how successful the economy is to allow people to provide for their basic needs and have the ability to enjoy some of the comforts in life. It seems that in our Country, people have reached a point where those two things have become detrimental to their existence as free men. With pre-packaged food and a flickering box of distraction available 24 hours a day – we have become a people that are so comfortable that this very level of success will be the undoing of the Constitutional Freedoms that allowed us to reach this state in the first place. Fate, it would seem, is not without a sense of irony. Our ability to tune out at any second, to buy everything needed to sustain our bodies prepared, packaged and ready to go, to obtain food without having to till, plow, plant, grow, harvest, produce, prepare or serve the Food – or even have to get out of the CAR to get it, to never have to worry about the state of our Liberty has resulted in just that – The People are completely unaware of the abrogation of our rights and freedoms that has already taken place. They have been so comfortable and so distracted that the foundation of Liberty has been eroded beneath them and replaced with something far more sinister.
There has been a dedicated and nearly imperceptible shift in the basic thought processes of Americans in the last 40 years. The hippies brought up many communistic principles and disguised them as freedom. Basic concepts such as redistribution of wealth and free love were covering the ideas that we are all belong to each other since we’re all human. Communes sprang up around the country based on the concept of “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” Thinking that this would mean everyone works together for each other and create a utopia, what was actually done was use the very Marxist mantra as a baseplate. This has evolved into Political Correctness and the word games that are so rampant among us today; where once we had janitors, we now have “Custodians” or even farther, “Custodial Engineers”; where once there were prostitutes there are now “Sex Workers”, secretaries are “Executive Assistants”, stewardesses are “Flight Attendants” – this is a very subtle way of removing the drive that people once had to improve themselves. If one told a person they were a janitor and felt a little shame in it – that would drive them to move up in the world. If they felt none and were happy or proud in their work – then they were happy, no problem with that. By removing ALL stigmas that we as a society have put upon certain things then the junkies are elevated to the same level as our doctors – since it’s obviously not their fault that needle keeps going in their veins – it’s a disease that causes it. It’s ironic that the people who called themselves liberal in the 60’s would say “While I don’t agree with what you say, I’ll defend to the death your right to say it” have now become modern day liberals who say “That is offensive – you should not be allowed to say that”. We have shifted our desires and understanding of Freedom to true Socialism where the thoughts of men become crimes. Freedom does not guarantee that you will never be “offended”, a word that I am as sick of hearing as I could possibly be, Freedom guarantees that you WILL be “offended” – a Free People will contain bigots, idiots, racists, open-minded people, brave and weak people – that’s the glory of Freedom. I constantly hear “Diversity” being used as the pinnacle of freedom while the group that advocates it is the most conformist element in modern society. If you don’t accept the freaks, perverts, junkies, whores, thieves, pedophiles, pornographers, communists and Illegal Immigrants – then you must be shut down and shut out. You voice must not be heard because it doesn’t CONFORM to the mantra that is constantly repeated in the propaganda of the media.
The People of this Country must get some sand back in their sack and start being men again. Being “offended” is not the worst thing that can happen to you and watching your words or not expressing what you feel out of the fear of being labeled is NOT being a man. It is cowering down to the lowest and most pathetic attempts to control your mind and spirit. If someone is homeless and drinking wine on the corner – THAT’S PROBABLY WHY THEIR HOMELESS. It’s okay to say so. If a person is living in state subsidized housing, collecting welfare checks and spitting out babies every 9 months – IT’S OKAY TO GET ANGRY AT THAT. Even if you’re wrong – YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE. As long as we continue to cover up and hide who we truly are – in all our glory and shame, our courage and weakness, our understanding and biases – we will continue to be subverted and controlled. Freedom, as it is commonly thought of today, is a weak willed, spineless blind following of whatever your told. This is the Freedom to never think, to never get angry, to never FEEL – that is NOT freedom – that is slavery. Unless we learn to embrace our faults and our strengths – to revel in being imperfect beings – to LIVE as HUMANS – this country will not survive – it will follow the same fate as all other Socialist states – failure. Have the courage to succeed while understanding it comes with the risk of failure - have the courage to speak your mind – HAVE THE COURAGE TO BE FREE.
